About Us
The story behind The Soy Candle Company....
I remember years ago when I burned Paraffin candles, that they used to make the walls and furniture around them black. When I found out that Paraffin was a petroleum by product, it made sense to me why the smoke coming off these candles looked like the smoke coming out of a truck!
6 years ago, a friend and I discovered a new wax being produced for candles; Soy wax - a natural sustainable material. Now my faith in candles was restored, so much so that we had to start making them ourselves.
We were among the very first people in Australasia to start making Soy candles back in 2006. Being the nature lovers that we are, we pledged to use 100% pure lead-free cotton wicks, and hand craft our candles with beautiful fragrances and botanical oils, for vitality and well-being.
Now we have been hand-making natural wax candles for over 6 years, and we truly enjoy sharing with our customers, all that we have learned about candle burning such as Handy tips to prolong the life of a candle and how to completely avoid smoke when you extinguish the flame. Read our candle care page for more information.

Buying New Zealand made
Every time you buy Kiwi made, the whole country benefits....
250,000 workers are making something in this country, for this country. When you buy something that’s made in New Zealand, you’re contributing to the story too... The creation of jobs, increase in purchasing power, flow-on growth & export opportunities and a stronger kiwi currency.
The Buy Kiwi Made media campaign being run by the Ministry of Economic Development is in fact part of a 100 year history of Kiwis encouraging Kiwis to buy New Zealand made goods.
